where is your local site?

When you create your first HTML page in the text editor, save it as "home.html" inside a folder called "web" on the desktop. When you go to the web browser to open it, this wil be the address that you will type into the browser to open the page:

file:///Users/YOURUSERNAME/Desktop/web/home.html

Of course you could just double click or drag it into the browser shortcut in the dock, but it's important to know the PATH, the set of directions to where your files are contained on the hard-drive.

Try it in different browsers: Firefox, Safari, Explorer.
